White Overwinter Greenhouse Plastic for Winter Growing

White Overwinter Greenhouse Plastic, also called white overwintering film, is a single-season greenhouse cover designed to help reduce heat loss during colder months while softening direct winter light.

This white overwinter film provides 55% light diffusion, which helps create a gentler growing environment while still allowing useful light transmission. It is a practical option for growers who want winter protection with more diffused light.

Made for winter growing, this white overwinter greenhouse plastic offers better tear strength and can be cut to length for hoop houses, greenhouses, and temporary covers.

Light Control That Prevents Burn and Supports Growth

Direct winter sunlight can do more harm than good. This plastic helps by blocking harsh rays while letting soft light pass through. It keeps the inside cool and stable, protecting your crops from burning or light shock.

Ideal for overwintering ornamentals, perennials, and sensitive crops, it reduces stress, controls moisture, and helps maintain the natural dormancy cycle. With Overwinter Plastic, your plants stay healthier and safer during winter.

Single-Season White Overwinter Film

White Overwinter Film is a single-season greenhouse covering, not a reversible black-and-white tarp. The film is white throughout and provides 50% shade for seasonal overwintering applications.

At 5 mil, the film has 48% total light transmission and 55% light diffusion. It reduces incoming light and distributes it more evenly throughout the covered area. It does not provide blackout and should not be used as light-deprivation film.

5 Mil Strength for Seasonal Use

The published specifications list tensile strength of 24 MPa in both directions, 700% elongation, tear resistance of 250 g/mil, and a falling-dart impact value of 700 g at 5 mil. These measurements describe the film’s resistance to stretching, tearing, and impact during normal installation and use.

10-Month UV Resistance Rating

White Overwinter Film has a 10-month UV resistance rating at 120 KLy and is intended for one overwintering season. It should not be described as a multi-season cover or as a film that will last for many years.

To avoid premature degradation, keep the film away from corroded metal, PVC accessories, wood resins, oils, petroleum products, and direct heater exhaust. Excessive exposure to agricultural chemicals can also shorten its service life.

Custom Cut-to-Length for Any Greenhouse or Structure

This special overwinter plastic light diffuser sheet, which comes 12 feet to 60 feet wide, is available in cut-to-fit sizes according to the specification of the grower. When the film fits precisely, it provides perfect coverage, ensuring there are no air gaps, heat loss, and bad insulation. Whether it is small hoop houses, commercial greenhouses, or seasonal plant shelters, this tailor-cut film fits any structure.

The custom sizing not only saves growers’ material costs but also helps them to stay environmentally friendly by reducing material waste.

Diffused Light for Overwintering

At 5 mil, White Overwinter Film transmits 48% of total light and provides 55% light diffusion. This combination reduces light intensity while spreading natural light more evenly throughout the covered structure.

Choose the white version when the growing plan calls for more shade and softer, diffused light. Growers who need maximum winter light should consider Clear Overwinter Film instead.

White Overwinter Film can be cut to the required length for seasonal greenhouse, hoop-house, and nursery-cover applications. It is a white shade and diffusion film, not a reversible blackout tarp.

Installation Guidelines

Before Installation:

  1. Check weather conditions - install on calm, dry day
  2. Ensure frame is smooth with no sharp edges
  3. Clean frame of debris and old material
  4. Have all fastening materials ready

Installation Steps:

  1. Unroll material carefully to avoid wrinkles
  2. Allow adequate overlap on all sides
  3. Start fastening from one end, working systematically
  4. Maintain proper tension - firm but not over-tight
  5. Secure with appropriate fasteners
  6. Trim excess material with sharp knife

Best Practices:

  • Install during moderate temperatures
  • Use proper fastening systems
  • Avoid over-tensioning in cold weather
  • Allow for thermal expansion
  • Check and retighten fasteners seasonally
