4 Hoop-House Project Sites: 1,142+ Acres

August 26, 2026

These four commercial hoop-house projects are in California and China, on sites totaling more than 1,142 acres. They include substrate blueberries in Moorpark, cannabis autoflowers in Coachella, substrate raspberries in Xishuangbanna, and tabletop strawberries in Nipomo. Each project uses a different combination of structure width, crop layout, and greenhouse film.

Four Projects at a Glance
Project Site size Structure and layout Film
Moorpark substrate blueberries 110 acres 24 ft wide hoop houses; three rows at 8 ft spacing 32 ft wide, 5-layer hoop-house plastic
Coachella cannabis autoflowers 11 acres 22 ft hoop houses; three bed rows; 200 ft tunnels 30 ft wide, 5-layer co-extruded hoop-house plastic
Xishuangbanna substrate raspberries 321 acres 27 ft hoop houses; three bed rows 32 ft wide, 5-layer co-extruded hoop-house plastic
Nipomo substrate strawberries 700+ acres 25 ft 6 in hoop houses; six- and seven-row tabletop layouts 32 ft wide, 6 mil, 5-layer co-extruded hoop-house plastic

Moorpark: 110-acre substrate blueberry project

At the 110-acre Moorpark site, substrate blueberries grow in 25-liter pots inside 24 ft wide hoop houses. Each house uses a 32 ft arch and three crop rows spaced 8 ft apart. Black weed mat covers the ground, and a pump house supports the irrigation and fertigation system.

The houses are covered with 32 ft wide, 5-layer hoop-house plastic with infrared, anti-dust, and 65% diffusion properties.

Coachella: 11-acre cannabis autoflower project

At the 11-acre Coachella site, cannabis autoflowers grow in three bed rows inside 22 ft wide, 200 ft long hoop houses. Black-and-white bed mulch covers the growing beds.

The houses are covered with 30 ft wide, 5-layer co-extruded hoop-house plastic supplied from master rolls. The film includes infrared, anti-condensation, and anti-dust properties, with 85% light transmission and 65% diffusion. Ferrari Metals mechanically bent the 30 ft arches used for the structures.

Xishuangbanna: 321-acre substrate raspberry project

At the 321-acre Xishuangbanna site in Yunnan, China, substrate raspberries grow inside 27 ft wide hoop houses. Each house is organized into three bed rows.

The houses use 33 ft arches mechanically bent by Ferrari Metals and are covered with 32 ft wide, 5-layer co-extruded hoop-house plastic. The film includes infrared, anti-condensation, and anti-dust properties, with 85% light transmission and 65% diffusion.

Nipomo: 700+ acre substrate strawberry project

At the 700+ acre Nipomo site, substrate strawberries grow in six- and seven-row tabletop layouts inside 25 ft 6 in wide hoop houses. The tabletop system uses substrate bags with drip irrigation.

The houses use 33 ft arches mechanically bent by Ferrari Metals and are covered with 32 ft wide, 6 mil, 5-layer co-extruded hoop-house plastic. The film includes infrared and anti-condensation properties, with 85% light transmission and 65% diffusion.
